@jonoessex They voted against their own best interests because they were too concerned with nationalism and false arguments like sovereignty. Now they are suffering the consequences, please don't comment again asking me to explain, if you can't read facts and interpret the English language then there is no incentive for me to reply. @jonoessex So would Corbyn had he not been the leader of Labour at the time and subject to member votes on policy. I'm also a Eurosceptic, you missed the point. It was never feasible to leave in the timeframe and the only reason for such was the EU Anti-Tax Avoidance Directive. I think the results show the very low opinion Brits have for themselves but keep searching for any illogical argument to vent your frustration at reality. If you have read recent legislation in the past decade and the tabloid stories, and public comments on those stories and had a better understanding of economics and politics you would think the same as me.

@meljen8592 I expect I'm wasting my time, however, I will assume a genuine interest rather than sealioning. Brexit admin cost more than our combined contributions to the EU over 47 years. We lost trillions in banking trade and opportunities, much of which went to Frankfurt. We lost prestige, our acceptance of international law and our standing on the world stage. Our GDP has been reduced by 4% which is a loss of over £120 billion per annum. Our food standards, human rights and other standards have been threatened by recent Tory legislation which was all predicted. We have been plagued with shortages of goods and labour, problems at our ports and risks to the GFA. We have lost migrant workers which has amplified the manpower shortages and our freedom of movement in Europe. The only benefits I can see are that we now know how easily manipulated we are, how much power shadowy groups like the ERG have and how little patriotism our politicians have. As well as how effective data mining and its study can be used to usurp democracy. There are many other points I could make, but surely that's enough for now...

Corporate lobbyists override constituents' wishes, special interests groups pay for political support, we live in a corporatocracy or a plutocracy. If you read recent legislation you'll see more authoritarianism and fash-is-mm than you can bare, you're obviously oblivious to that fact. Millions died in Bengal through famine due to Churchill's policies to support the war effort. Your facts are inane nonsense from the mind of a political illiterate, you have to exceed someone's knowledge and intellectual capacity to teach them, find some schoolchildren as that would be more your level. @martinwebster5709 Agreed, The main factor was indeed the lack of transparency on the crown dependencies and overseas territories. The wealthy wanted to continue to launder the global criminal elitists' money for them. The UK is predominantly responsible for the majority of global corporate tax avoidance. Standards as we see from recent legislation are also under attack including the ECHR and the UN Convention on human rights. So yes agreed, also regarding food and animal welfare which are a bane to those exploiting our food supply for profit.

However, the benefits include exposing shadowy groups like the ERG, the lack of patriotism and corruption of the Tory party, shows how much power the media have and that a group of financial elitists can use data mining to manipulate the populous. It also clearly proved that trading as a block within the EU provided us with cheaper goods such as energy, that migrant labour was necessary to our economy and that freedom of movement was a boon that we lost through ignorance.

@georgepayne9895 It's a generalisation on the British public of which I am one. It also reflects a voting public that continually vote for the Tory party, despite their obvious corruption and profiteering. Feel free to provide some actual political literacy by explaining your reasons for leaving without using the lies such as Sovereignty, controlling our borders, and making our own laws, as all of these things have always been in our control. Or explain how we should not be reliant on a trading block and have to follow standards and international legislation as is ubiquitous to all trade deals. Then please explain to me how the Panama papers, Pandora papers and the lack of transparency on the crown dependencies and overseas territories fit in with the EU Tax Avoidance directive and the timing of the referendum. While also acknowledging that the UK is the largest enabler of global corporate tax evasion and avoidance.

@violatorU Unfortunately we both have a similar system of a two-party state. Both in league with corporations and lobbyists and neither have any respect for the electorate. We both have the choice between red or blue neoliberalism and a rise in right-wing rhetoric and misinformation. Neither country has a choice to vote in anything different.

@markuschristian4843 Almost half of us voted against Brexit and I'm a Celt - meaning my ancestry is native Brit but originally from the Iberian peninsula/roaming Europe, I believe Germany, France and other countries for that matter still have a few Celtic regions with language and culture intact. @meljen8592 Proof Brexit was responsible is in the fact that many other European countries are not suffering the loss to GDP, higher cost of energy (30% less in the EU), the severity of shortages and manpower. threats to standards and rights etc. With Starmer as the only viable option, I think we'd be better off rising up against the corrupt system than voting for a neoliberal sheep in Labour clothing. But agreed, removing the Tories is a good first step.

@mogznwaz We always had sovereignty, what we had were commitments and agreements that bind countries for trade, standards and security. Something that exists with any trade deal we make. The CPTPP is the same as the EU requiring standards and commitments, yet we joined that for a 50th of the losses incurred by leaving the EU. Don't bother replying again, it's you that has little political and economic knowledge and wasting my time explaining that is like trying to teach a fish to ride a bike...

@mogznwaz We've lost 4% GDP due to Brexit, our National Debt is £2.6 trillion at least, which is around 94% of GDP. Interest rates have risen to 4.35% and is expected to rise to as much as 5%. The Financial sector in Britain relies heavily on laundering money for the global criminal elitists via the lack of transparency on the crown dependencies and overseas territories, we have fractional reserve banking and FIAT currency. Our economy is declining more than any other in the G7, despite Tory fiscal fudging. You lack the wit and intellect to challenge anyone, stop wasting my time with your failures of knowledge.

@georgepayne9895 How are the loss of 4% of GDP and 40+ years of trading and other relationships a good thing? regardless of timeline or competence, these things would have happened. There was no way to leave the EU without losing our bulk purchasing power, relationships, preferential trade deals and security. You haven't provided any credible arguments to support your opinion that this was something the UK would benefit from and blame some ambiguous future direction. Sorry, but you haven't convinced me of anything other than the fact you are literate and reasonably eloquent, if not logical. The EU has grown despite our departure, and we are losing animal welfare rights, food standards, a migrant workforce we rely on, not to mention our human rights are under threat from several bills passed since we left.

Regardless of your low expectations of benefits, or future dividends, the outcome is what was predicted by a host of pundits - political, financial, legal etc. Your analogy is flawed, the benefits of immunity are not negated by a short-term state of mild symptoms.
