  1. You basically have to build the next Facebook if you want to do that. It has to be a wild idea. My approach is to avoid that and just build a small app that local businesses can use. To outcompete, you would have to sell cheaper subscriptions than what the competition offers. You don't need to have millions of users, just a few businesses willing to pay, enough clients to get you your desired income per month.

  2. That's a service based business, basically any form of freelancing falls under that category. Only thing is that some of these businesses are creativity oriented and don't always solve a particular problem, which is what he was referring to, so your mileage may vary
