No shame in making a robust logical argument and then dropping it for a stronger one.

@Astromath You can't seriously believe technology will continue to move at this rate? The fruit yield will taper off as the grapes get higher.

@potto1488 Bikes, cars and planes are all low hanging fruit. I am not saying humanity has hit a plateau now, I am saying it will plateau for long periods as the jumps become orders of magnitude harder to achieve.

@jonathanseiersen513 As someone who grew up in the 80's...Where are the hoverboards? Where is fusion power? Flying cars? Replicants? Time machines? Sure technology in some areas has come on leaps and bounds but less so in others. No real point in going to Mars except for bragging rights. We will never make Mars work if we can't even make the Earth work.

@downstream0114 I disagree, sure there will be key breakthroughs but the problems will get so hard or even impossible. Real life isn't a script, there doesn't have to be a solution to every problem out there.

@LizBrowne-do2li The behaviour of matter isn't open to discussion but the physics that describe it certainly is. Until the premise was demonstrated they were making their arguments about the exact physics involved to try to make accurate predictions. Every description of physics can always be improved and refined, so really everyone discussing physics will never have the complete answer to anything.
