Alpha male right there!

Magnesium supplements have helped me. Been taking 200 mg / day for 4 years and I haven't had a severe cramp. Occasionally, minor ones crop up, but they are manageable.

Those kids are good sports! Last year I ran or of candy, but fortunately had granola bars to hand out

@silvach2 I'd rather die from magnesium poisoning than get the cramps I used to get. Sometimes my calf and shin would cramp at the same time. When you try to stretch one, the other got worse. I used calcium (foods & supplements) for 2 years and that helped, but had 2 kidney stones. Then I tried potassium (foods & supplements) , but that never helped. If I ever go to a doctor & get a blood draw, I'll ask to have the Mg level checked.

Bro, I started getting them in my teens. Now I'm 70 & been taking 200 mg magnesium supplement for 4 years. I have not had any severe cramps during this time. Occasionally I still get a minor cramps, but its manageable with the stretch.

@tru3sk1ll I've been taking magnesium supplements for 4 years. After 50 years of severe leg cramps, the magnesium works for me.

@Ottee2 magnesium supplements work for me. 200 mg mist every day for the last 4 years, and have had only a few minor cramps, none of the severe cramps.

@silvach2 thanks for the tips. I started getting leg cramps as a teen, & now I'm 70, so I've suffered more the 50 years. My father, brother, sister & cousins also suffer(ed) greatly from leg cramps. I do a lot of hiking, skiing etc, but I know that chronically, I do not hydrate as much as I should. I remember pulling my sister's ski boot off on the slope, so I could push her toes straight when they cramped. It's really a curse. My doc used to prescribe quinine sulfate, but it was only for use when a cramp had started (by then it was too late) or if I had twitchy warning signs that a cramp might be coming later. Most times that I've experienced them were at night from a sound sleep.

@mafiaboss4194 jump out and start stretching. Sleeping in a hammock or sleeping bag in a tent are two other bad scenarios.

@lorienmyers7643 hitting or massaging the cramp never helped me. Trying to stretch it was the only action that helped.

Whoever decided to crash that 1959 Chevrolet Bel-Air should have sat in the driver's seat. What a waste of a classic piece of automobile art...
