Well, not sure about this .....I quiet coffee at age 52yo and came back to it at age 55yo so basically no coffee for 2 to 3 yeqrs and I did not notice much difference except for lower blood pressure. However, I did also start a regular exercise program so that was the primary factor in lower blood pressure. I also never had much of any withdrawal symptoms. My energy levels did not increase after I stoped drinking coffee, even after two years. ONce I started eating steamed beets every day my energy levesl were through the roof ! Seriously, beets are under rated, you should try that as an energy boost. It will take 2 or 3 days to have that effect, based on my experience but you will have the energy even when sleep deprived. So eating beets every day could be a replace coffee in so far as energy leverls are concerned and it last the whole day, not hours.
Anyways, I agree with the author in that it is an external stimulant and it is best to go all natural however, I still love my coffee with milk and honey! haha
Oh yeah, I also quit "cold turkey": I stopped drinking it immediately. I might be an outlier though, and your experience will probaly be different.
