Vanuatu has an annual sea-level rise averaging 3mm a year, probably since the end of the ice age. That's the same as everywhere else as measured by tide gauges, so stand on a beach ⛱️ for a century and your ankles might get wet. The actual sea-level anomaly for Vanuatu has been on a declining trend since 2012. In fact the sea level change in a single year (60mm up and down) is 20 to 30 times greater than the trend. It's typhoons that they need to worry about, and fortunately, they've been decreasing for over 7 decades (thanks global warming 👍). The truth is Atolls in the Pacific nations, as well as the Maldives archipelago in the Indian Ocean, have risen up to 8% in size. But the truth isn't scary or exciting...and there's no money in it.
