@christopherg2347 the Germans used this tactics in the Dutch province of Zeeland during ww2. I wouldn't be surprised if the Russian will do so in this war too.

@bzuidgeest considering your name I suspect you're Dutch. Which also explains your answer. The Dutch have used the "waterlinie" which was also damaging for the country, to defend the country from invasion. Yes you damage your country and destroy people's homes but if you don't there isn't a country left at all. So it's a necessary evil.
