@jarate8076 I answered on the OP's question. It is not the US vs Russia, it is Ukraine vs Russia. Just like Vietnam wasn't China and/or USSR vs the US. About the rest, no I actually don't think that would be a nuclear exchange if the war wouldn't threat US home territories )).

@Jarate but to answer your comment. No it is not a proxy war. It is an imperialist war started by the Russian Federation itself. In which Ukraine has received aid to defend itself. What was a proxy war, was the war in the Donbass. With Russia fighting a proxy war against Ukraine. Russia couldn't end this by just getting the f out it internationally recognized Ukrainian territory.
