@HATCH5T no the truth is, that Russians have a superiority complex and consider having to learn Ukrainian, the language of the country they live in to be beneath them. The same applies to Latvian, Estonian, Lithuanian, Kazakh, Romanian/Moldovan etc. They just expect you to learn their language, whist they live in another country. Imagine if I'd live in Russia and refuse to learn Russian....
Btw you can speak Russian to this day in Ukraine. As I said, I do so daily as my gf is from Kharkiv. She is more fluent in Russian, but also knows Ukrainian, as should be. If Russian will ever dissapear from Ukraine, it will be the actions of the Russian state causing it. But ofcourse what I say doesn't fit in your narrative. The narrative of "the enteral victims, the Russians".

@Erem Stemero yes I agree. And mate, even if people's are exactly the same, it is about how they self identify. Ukrainians self identify as Ukrainians, so no matter anything else, they are Ukrainians. Whatever someone else says about it, they are separate. I myself also don't know any Ukrainian, including from my family (they come from Donetsk) as well as friends all over the country, who see Ukrainians and Russians as one people. I speak only Russian, sadly, but I am learning Ukrainian, also because a lot of my friends switched the language they use. I agree with you. There is nothing to negotiate. Stay safe mate and Слава Україні!
P.s. I will never understand people that tell other people what they are instead of just accepting how someone self identifies. If an anything Ethiopian is raised in the Netherlands and self identifies as Dutch, he is Dutch for example. ))

@regulus7181 ah so because I am white I invaded Africa? That's racist. Secondly, it's invade not evade. Then again you're an orc, so what do I expect? Thirdly if you speak against colonialism, which was horrible, you're a hypocrite if you support Russia, which is a colonial empire. Or do only Africans being colonized matter and not the tatars, bashkiri, Yakuti etc. ? So yeah it's hypocrite. I think you might need to read up on the meaning of hypocrisy, as I am against ALL imperialism and colonialism, be it Western, Chinese or Russian. Meanwhile you are against Western Imperialism but support the Russians doing it to another people. That makes you a hypocrite, as when they would have done it I'm Africa, you wokld be against it.

@Muhamad Ihssan "Ukraine only became a thing in the last century". I advise you to read the actual history of the region, and then not the Russian version of it.
Ukraine or in the early modern times known as Ruthenia, existed for centuries with the first Ukrainian/Ruthenian state there being the Cossack Hetmenate. Meaning Ukraine can actually trace its statehood back to around the same time that the Russian Tsardom was founded, which itself was a Moscovite state evolving from the Grand Principality of Moscovy.
Eastern Slav land, yes, but that doesn't give Russia a claim on this land. I mean the Netherlands, half of Belgium, Austria, Luxembourg and part of Switzerland are Germanic, so it should actually all belong to Germany? Russia is not the Rus' but just a decendent from it who took the name, like how the Holy Roman Empire took the name of the Roman Empire. It was never core Russian land, it was core Rus' land. This is not the same. Ukrainian always considered themselves differently from the Moscovites, which in turn saw the Russian policy of Russification of the Ruthernian/Ukrainian lands (if they were Russians back then, it wouldn't have needed to be Russified and the Russians wouldn't have needed to ban the Ukrainian language). Russia, Belarus and Ukraine are all equally dependents of the Kyivan Rus' none of them have claims on the other. I would like saying Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Northern Italy, Catalonia and the low countries are all rightfully French as France is named after the Franks.
Whilst I don't support the American actions in any way, your reasoning is as flawed as his and you do the same thing as he does but in your case for the Russians.
I suppose Russia is rightfully Swedish then? After all the name Russia is directly taken from the Vikings/Varangians that came to what is now Eastern Europe, as they were called the Rus'. Considering the claim you make is purely based on the Rus' claim that the Russian Empire loved to throw around, it should actually all be Swedish.

@jthom5951 Do you mean the same Budapest memorandum that Russia broke when it invaded Crimea and instigated the Donbass war in 2014? So what you say is :" Russia can break the memorandum anytime it wants, but Ukraine should abide by it" right?
Also can you point me to which sources you use for the "genocide" of ethnic Russians? As the official UN sources report the death of 3404 civilians in the Donbass war from 2014-2022. This is the total amount on BOTH sides and includes the 296 foreigners killed by the Russian backed separatists when they downed MH-17 (source: Netherlands led JIT). As well as 4400 Ukrainian military deaths and 6517 DNR and LNR military deaths (sources for these numbers are the UN, as well as DNR and LNR) and 400-500 Russia servicemen (Source: US state department). Whilst 3404 civilian deaths are 3404 to many, this is hardly a genocide, especially considering these deaths are split between both sides.
In contrast since Russia invaded there has been between 12000 and 28521 (source Ukrainian government) or 5587 and 7890 (UN confirmed) civilians deaths on the Ukrainian side. I would like to remind you that most of those are Russian speaking, with some of them also being ethnically Russian and a large part of them living in, or coming from, Donbass. The Russians and their proxies have killed a considerably larger amount of people from Donbass since February 24 than Ukraine has done in 8 years. Therefore you statement is false and a myth. If anything the calls for the destruction of the Ukrainian state, culture and nation sound more like genocide to me, especially combined with Bucha, than anything that has happend in Donbass. This is without mentioning the amount of military casualties since February 24th on all sides. Even in your fantasy world were Ukraine would have committed a genocide, it doesn't really make sense to protect people from this genocide and death by bringing more death and committing genocide yourself, right? If to you that makes sense, I honestly worry about your mental health.
Then the part of Ukraine being a threat. Ukraine was neutral until Russia invaded in 2014. It is no threat to Russia at all and all it wants is to regain control of it's internationally recognized borders. Recognized in 1991 by Russia as well. They are no threat to Russia at all. Not economically and not militarily. With the numbers of equipment and military personnel before the war easily showing this. So again, an easily debunked myth. If you consider them a threat as the potential of them joining NATO which would expose Russia's southern flank, then your statement about Finland would be false as Finland (and Sweden) joining NATO directly threatens Kaliningrad, Saint Petersburg and Murmansk, and actually all of Karelia and the Kola peninsula.

@justme ! "the West" never attacked Russia. France did once and Germany did once. That is all. Never "the West".as there never was the concept of a united West until after ww2. Both times a large part of "the West" fought with Russia. Also Crimean War, First World War? Two wars Russia (co-) started and which involved Western powers and in which it got demolished. Stop repeating imperialist myths. It isn't history and you sound really dumb for saying them. There is nothing special about Russia, or any other country for that matter.
About Russia staying in its neighbourhood, Outer Manchuria, was not its neighbourhood when the colonisation by Moscovy/Russia started. Also colonisation remains colonisation, doesn't matter if it is your neighbour or if it is far away. So that is a bit hypocrite. Or do you say that the Circassian genocide was okay? Because it happend in the neighbourhood instead of the other side of the world? For me personally they are both just as horrible and Russia's wealth has been built just as much on the back of colonial subjects as that of the West. Any student of history would tell you that. I personally can't understand people like you. People that are, rightfully, so anti-imperiliast and anti-colonial, two things that are honestly horrible and sadly still not destroyed (including France's actions in West Africa), only to defend another country doing it because it is on your side. That is the definition of hypocrisy.
Russia never attacked the West? Finnish War (against Sweden), Winter War. Hello? Lol.

As a European, knowing European and Russian history, I say the best we can do is move as far away from Russia as long as it is an imperialist, and now also facist, state.
The Finns, Czechs, Poles and Baltic States remember what "friendship" with the Russians is like. So I trust their judgement on this one. The US, whilst far from perfect, is our friend and ally. I applaud Europe finally rearming and I hope we will become less dependent on the US military. That said I appreciate the transatlantic relationship. About Nord Stream II. It is so easy to understand this, that I doubt if you can think for yourself. First it would have increased dependency (as we see now, that's bad). Secondly, about the UA pipeline, nord stream II would have meant the UA no longer getting transit money as well as the fact that if Nord Stream II would have happend, a war in Ukraine would have been even easier as gas supplies in Europe wouldn't have been at risk. So potentially, in Russian and probably American minds, there would have been less of a backlash from Europe.

@vsezaquilt ah yes the Russian orc. Who believes all achievements of the Russian Empire and the USSR are just the achievements of the Russians. Because these are the myths told to them. Yet they can't tell you a single thing they achieved since 1991. Famous for drunkards, and ofcourse the country with the most cam "moddels". Don't reply to me Olga. Don't talk to me Moskal orc.
Anyone with an actual understanding of history, knows that there were also many Ukrainians, and Belarusians, as well as other minorities, fighting in the Imperial Russian as well as the Red and Soviet Army (yes the Red army and the Soviet army are not the same). Of the 27 million Soviet deaths in ww2, 8 million were Ukrainian, 14 million Russian. Per capita Ukraine lost more people than Russia. But ofcourse the orc doesn't know this. These are historical facts btw, research done by independent historians, those that don't want to teach myths like your government does (and you're the sad result of it). Also a quick look at the modern Russian forces and the disproportionate share of the minorities I them, proves the historical precedent as well. As they still do the same thing.

@vsezaquilt the figures are: Armenian SSR: 180.000, Azerbaijan SSR: 300.000, Byelorussian SSR: 2.290.000, Estonian SSR: 80.000, Georgian SSR: 300.000, Kazakh SSR: 660.000, Kirghiz SSR: 120.000, Latvian SSR: 260.000, Lithuanian SSR: 375.000, Moldovan SSR: 170.000, Russian SFSR: 13.950.000, Tajik SSR: 120.000, Turkmeni SSR: 100.000, Ukrainian SSR: 6.850.000, Uzbeki SSR: 550.000.

Again a mistake on my the earlier Ukrainian number. But yeah the contribution of Russia is always made bigger than it is and Ukrainian contribution smaller.

@kocik The war is an imperialist project. If we look back at history, it is not the first time the Russians have done this with Ukraine (or the other states around them). The essay Putin wrote himself (published on the Kremlin website) as well as his statements about Ukraine make it very clear that he doesn't think Ukrainians exist, nor their culture or language. A recurring theme in Russian history is the repression of Ukrainian culture, language, and other expressions of a nation. This is because of the believe that without Ukraine under Russian controll, there can be no Russian Empire and for Russians the notion of Russia existing without being an empire is inconceivable, just like those growing up in the 19th century couldn't have imagined the UK not having its empire.
About Sweden joining, they want to be protected. There is the old saying from Latin that those who desire peace should be prepared for war. European countries aren't interested in war, but by being tied to the US and together as well, you ensure that you're not invaded. There is a reason Russia invaded Georgia (2008) and Ukraine (2014 and 2022) and not any of the Baltic States. Countries tend to only invade those countries they consider weaker or, at maximum, equal to themselves. Joining NATO means you add all of the other NATO members on this power scale. Russia itself is an aggressive, imperialist power, and therefore, it believes its neighbours are the same. Someone who easily kills others also thinks others can do that to him.

@Данила Милицын the fact you use whataboutism orc, shows precisely the point. Poiting to the mistakes of others doesn't justify your own actions. I am against the intervention in Serbia, so that isn't going to work on me. About the Falkland war, we shouldn't forget that the Argentines attacked the UK and not the other way around. Whilst I don't support the mistreatment of people, the Argentines are hardly the victims in that situation.
You are a hypocrite, because you apparently understand doing those things is bad, but you are okay with Russia doing it. When you have to point to the wrongdoings of other countries to try to justify your actions, you have a weak argument. Every country has done horrible things, so if we use your reasoning we can all keep killing each other. In your logic it is okay for me to kill people because someone else has done so before. Your way of reasoning is that of a small child. Besides the fact that after Bucha, Izium etc, you're the last one to speak about such things. Even right now the orc army bombs Kherson every day. A city that according to the laws of your country, is Russian and thus according to your own twisted logic, the people living their are "Russians".
Also, Danila, the way you try to talk to me is full of arrogance. Let me be the one to say this to you, Russians aren't some special people. Nobody is. I know more about your actual history, not the myths führer Putin tells you, than you ever will. As I am specialized in Russian and Ukrainian history. If we play the what about game, I could keep naming Russian atrocities. Including the Holodomor and the Circasian genocide. Your country is just as imperialist as the European countries used to be centuries ago. But I will repeat. Russians and Russia aren't special. You're equal to the rest of us. Nothing more.
