@jetli740 so instead Sweden and Finland should just wait until they're invaded? You know they're independent countries right? They can make their own decisions. They want to join specifically due to Russian aggression. Had Russia not invaded Ukraine, we wouldn't even discussing this

@Joseph009 NATO already has borders with Russia? Geography is not your strongest point isn't it? Poland and Lithuania border Russia, as in its Kaliningrad oblast, aswell as Estonia and Latvia which border the Russian mainland...

@jetli740 can you show me the treaty were they signed it? You won't be able to. If the agreement was made, which we will never know, it was done so true a vocal agreement. Aka not binding and incredibly naïeve from Gorbachev. A treaty that was broken though, but not by NATO but Russia, was the Budapest Memorandum.

@Joseph009 that is a different statement to your earlier one though)). Also it doesn't matter one bit. Sweden and Finland are nations that have the right to seek protection. Russia isn't going to invade, they themselves already said they don't mind (which also shows NATO enlargement was just a bs pretext to start the war in Ukraine) and even if it did bother them? What will they do? Invade another country whilst stuck in Ukraine? Yeah would be a genius move, especially because it would prove anyone that joined NATO right, about joining the alliance. This situation is on Russia. Had they not invaded Ukraine, we wouldn't even have the discussion of Finland and Sweden joining. I personally welcome the Nordics. It should prevent any further imperial actions on the continent. Maybe one day Russia can join us in coexisting in Europe with its neighbours instead of wanting to dominate them.
