I mean Stalin himself also was a horrible dictator and Lenin has done horrible things himself too. History is written by the victors and the hero of one country is the villain of another. when people talk about Lenin, some even have a portrait of him, they also don't think about the horrible things he did. combined with the fact, that the more you tell people you can't do something, the more they'll do it. the USSR and Russia's obsession with him is what turned him into the image of Ukrainian independence, before that Ukrainians didn't care about him. Карл Марксов I understand you but I will present some counter points. - There are no written treaties between NATO and the USSR or it's successor Russia about NATO expansion. There is said there were agreements made in personal conversation. If this was true, it was naive of Gorbachev and a d*ck move of the Western diplomats. - There was no Russophobia. This is come into existence because of Russia's actions in Crimea and the current invasion. There was no oppression of the Russian population. There still isn't. As you can see in the support by ethnic Russians in Kharkiv for the Ukrainian government. - The war in Dobass is obviously horrible and was created because of the geopolitical game between Russia and US. As the civil war was orchestrated by the Russians and after this the Russians and Americans supported opposite sides. - Not so much Russophobe policies, they are pro Ukrainian policies. I think Ukraine has the right to promote it's culture and language in its country. All countries do this and Russia has a history of Russifying its conquered territories. I want to be clear that the Russian language and culture is not banned in Ukraine. You can speak any language you want at home or in public. - Ukraine being another puppet, while this is very simply, the west aren't American puppets as you can see in the fact that many countries often criticize the Americans and their foreign policy isn't aligned with theirs (otherwise they wouldn't have bought Russian gas and oil in the first place). It's a clear misrepresentation of the relationship of the US and its allies. Also if Ukraine wants to become closer to the West, it should have the right to do so. Just as Russia has the right to be closer to China. I think it would be outrageous if we invaded Russia to keep it out of China's sphere of influence. So I do understand your points but I hope you understand the counter arguments.

Карл Марксов it was used during the Ukrainian war for independence (1917-1921). I see no problem with that. Right wing groups tend to appropriate such things more often, including the prinsenvlag in my own country. Doesn't make those symbols or slogans bad, it just means that bad people also used them. But it's origin is in the Ukrainian War for Independence and not the UPA or OUN. These groups just misappropriated them. It's the same as calling the Christian cross evil because there have been some lunatics using this symbol for evil deeds.
