@Xeeni87 NATO doesn't want a conflict. If it wanted so, the countries would not have neglected their militaries as much as they did. Besides if they wanted to, they would have done so by now considering Russia is bogged down. Nobody wants a ww3 especially since it will be fought once again in Europe.

@Xeeni87 it's purely defensive. Currently to weak to stop Russia at the borders but strong enough to deterre Russia as it would eventually win in a conventional war, without spending the mandatory 2% of GDP. Actually the Russo-Ukrainian war caused NATO to completely rethink it's defensive strategy. Most members will spend alot more on their military and modernise their armed forces too. I believe they're going to station large permanent units in the Eastern flank of the alliance too. Up to know it had been small rapid response units which would have been overwhelmed by Russia in case of war.

@agamlizard8010 yes correct, the US. US =/= NATO )) also really wikipedia? 😂😂. And yes NATO is defensive. Bush took advantage of it though. Triggering article 5 for his own gains. I think we can agree that US has used NATO for it's own gains but the other members are in it for the protection the alliance gives.
