I want to share this video but I can't because of the way it misrepresents the war between Vietnam and Cambodia. It makes it sound like Vietnam was the aggressor when, in fact, Cambodia attacked Vietnam. It also completely ignors China's role in that war and fails to explain the complicity the US had in supporting Pol Pot and the khmer Rouge, the biggest purveyors of genocide since Adolph Hitler.

@JohnGeorgeBauerBuis That would be the wimpy thing to do and Vietname did not defete the most powerful countries in the world by being wimpy. . By banning the entire movie Vietnam is sending a strong message to both China and all American business that want to operate in Vietnam. If China and Hollywood want to avoid controversy the should stop making movies that depict China's illegal claims to islands in the South China Sea that belong to other countries.

@didierduplantier8359 Thank you for remembering the truth.

You have obviously never been to North Korea.

@JohnGeorgeBauerBuis I suspect the latter.

This is a legitimate concern. As an American who has lived in Vietnam for the past 4 years your concern about Vietnam becoming like China used to keep me up at night. However, I'm sleeping much better now because I have experienced significant differences between China and Vietnam. Generally speaking, the Party in China controls the government, the economy and the people. In Vietnam, the party controls the government but the economy is controled by free markets and the people enjoy the same freedoms as Western democracies. The internet is not blocked in Vietnam like it is in China. The police in Vietnam are not charged with harassing and terrorizing people like they are in China. Foreigners (especially Americans) are welcome in Vietnam unlike China. Furthermore, Vietnam and China have been enemies for over a thousand years and Vietnam has a vested interest in forming a strong alliance with the US. I'm not yet ready to bet the ranch on Vietnam, but I wouldn't bet the outhouse on China right now.

@kouvue7843 Not really. The US won the war with Japan.

@kouvue7843 I wasn't responding to the original comment. I was resopnding to the comment that compared post war Japan to post war Vietnam. Read the comment again...slowly this time.

Vietnam banned the Barbie movie because it contained a scene showing a map depicting China's illegal 9 dash line. None of the other countries in SE Asia had the guts to stand up to Hollywood's despicable cow towing to China.
