I live in Hanoi, Vietnam. Watching this video helps me understand why the people here in Vietnam hate China so much.

I live in Vietnam. Life here is good. People are happy. Many businesses leaving China and coming here.

@qlder0284 I've lived in Vietnam for 5 years and haven't experienced anything like what you described. In fact, My experience with the tyrannical police in America was much worse than anything I've seen or heard about here in Vietnam. This country essentially abandoned communism in 1986 with the imlementation of the Doi Moi reforms that transformed the economy and embraced free markets. Furthermore, there are a lot more communists in America right now than in Vietnam and the unholy alliance between state power and corporate money has essentially turned the US into a single party state. As an American, I feel more comfortable living in Vietnam than I did toward the end of my time in America, and things have gotten a whole lot worse in America since I left.

@thaongu1 You sound like a Viet kieu born and raised in California.

@qlder0284 If you've ever been to Vietnam you'd realize how rediculous you statement is.

As with Evergrande, I sense that the "lenders" of the Social Credit System are about to default.

I'd love to see this guy in Detroit trying to avoid being robbed by waiving a Chinese flag.

@a.t.2119 It's true that speaking against the government is discouraged in Vietnam but it's not exclusive to the government. Speaking ill of anyone can result in fines if it's done on a large scale. For example, recently someone received a fine for slandering a restaurant owner on social media. Preserving social order is an important aspect of Vietnamese culture. People who do get punished for speaking out agains the government have to do so on a very large scale and persist after multiple warnings. Jail time is rare while fines and being banned from social media are more commom punishments. People aren't carted off in the middle of the night like they are in China and N Korea and people here don't live in fear as they do in China and N Korea. As an American I find the restrictions on speach troubling from a legal perspective but fairly irrelevant from a practical perspective.

@4touchdowns1game29 The government in Vietnam is communist but the people aren't.
6
@mickeygmx3114 The Vietnamese are different from Americans. They leave things in the past and move on. That's why I love it here so much. Such a healthy environment

@dragonfly02490 The caisters rusted away long ago. However, the poision they contained remains.
5
@AllGoodOutside No. I came to Vietnam because the people here are amazing and the cost of living allows me to live like a king on the money I saved while working in America.
5
@swainlach4587 The US government will never a be vindicated for what they did in Vietnam. However, the American people who forced an end to that un-American war have definitely been vindicated.
5
@thaongu1 If you lived in Vietnam then you know this country is not a communist dictatorship.
4
@iaindcosta Whatever you say, Wummao.
4
@lifeontheX I agree 100%. However, The US and Vietnam have become allies and will likely continue to be allies for generations to come.
4
@fs5775 Yes, Philly would be a great place for this guy.
4
@Marcara081 Not only do men and women in Vietnam know their roles, they accept and embrace them. The result is a more stable and happy society.
3
@mickeygmx3114 Right. The people in Vietnam LOVE Americans. As an American I've never felt more welcome anywhere in the world than I do here in Vietnam.

Try being a White, Christian in China.

@Zyzyx442 So, what's your point other than to prove that you have an amazing talent for stating the obvious.

@peterwilson5528 I call it what the locals call it. I'm sorry you find that confusing but I'm guessing there are a lot of things that confuse you.

@frankzheng1998 I often tell people that I'm a Vietnamese man living in an American man's body. People in Vietnam agree. Nha Trang is beautiful. I'm sure you enjoyed it.

I hope President Biden is watching.
1
Totally awesome! I'm going to send a copy of this video to my congressman.

The difference is the US has an election coming up next year. China has no hope of change.

More female athletes in China with no rights. I bet Zhang Gaoli is happy about that.
1
As dissappointed as I am in the Biden administration, I think they're doing a good job pretending to care about preserving the relationship with China while taking decisive action to kill the CCP. If there's only one thing the Biden admistration gets right, let it be this.
