  1. That man said he isn't one to judge character when given a verbal assurance that rent control wouldn't be challenged. And yet, he had just judged the character of the woman who was walking her dog off leash. I think what he meant to say is, "I don't judge the character of the rich and powerful even when there has been example after example of bad faith deals they've made. But for the poor, well, I can judge them all day, they are nothing in my book and should lose their homes".
