@smc1942 No anger is there but maybe I shouldn't have said it that way. Yes Italy did know war was coming because they along with Germany will be the ones who will start it so they had all the time they need to plan out their ships while the Allies were left in the dark.

The gunnery is quite alright in the KGV'S for example HMS Duke Of York's performance at the Battle of North Cape and HMS King George V's performance at the final battle of Bismarck in which a majority of the shells that hit their target came from the quad turrets

The British don't build battleships for aesthetics

And why do you say that?

Yeah No, one of the reasons on why didn't go for the triple 15 inch armaments was because that would've put the displacement of the KGV'S beyond the 35,000 ton standard displacement of the treaty. And if your talking about after the escalator clause had been signed they would have to recall the design as the British sent the final designs of the KGV'S that would still mean that they would miss more than a year to finally build the KGV'S with triple 15 inch guns as again they were already in the process to making them so recalling the design would push back their construction date.

@smc1942 The U.S. did not do the same with the North Carolinas if you watch the video maid by Drach about them he has said that NC were supposed to be equipped with quad 14 inch turrets but the U.S. did not give the final design yet so meaning they could still revise the design and not affect the construction time as they still haven't even given the design yet. Yes they could be better but the British didn't have a crystal ball that said that there will be an escalator clause so don't give the designs just yet. And the only reason why Italy had a 40,000 ton battleship is because they just threw out the treaties
