Panzerschiffe means Armored Ship, Pocket Battleship is not a real designation at the time. The Deutschland-class was cheaper but still not much better in performance and the major weakness of the Deutschland-class was of course the existing British Battlecruisers, not only was Hood, Renown, and Repulse faster but they were also much mote heavily armed and much more heavily armored than the Deutschland-class ever were

Bismarck's speed will be nothing in convoy raiding as Bismarck will have to come to Battleships of the convoy and not the other way around. So Bismarck's speed will not dictate the fight as the Battleships could just stay close to the convoy and fight.

@ostlandr the Panzerschiffes were too expensive to waste on commerce raiding as well, multiple heavy cruisers are able to deal with them. Also a submarine or even an armed merchant ship is a much more effective commerce raider than them. If the Kriegsmarine had built up it's fleet then the Royal Navy will do the same and crush them even without engagements like Jutland

You highly underestimate the KGV's, The KGV's were more protected, carried more guns of slightly lower caliber, had better Radar and Fire Control Systems. The KGV's had more than a decent chance at winning

@WorshipinIdols The 14 inch guns on them isn't that far behind from a 15 inch gun, getting your main guns damaged or destroyed is very unlikely unless it had inadequate armor or the ship in question is a British Battlecruiser at Jutland. The King George V-class actually had thicker armor than the Bismarck-class, the only armor that was thinner on the KGV's was the turret and barbette armor but them being Treaty Battleships of course some sort of trade off would be designed

@WorshipinIdols Getting hit on the main turret face of the main battery isn't going to automatically lose it's power to traverse, to jam that turret you would have to penetrate the barbette of the turret or kill it's power source. There are two power source to make a turret traverse that would either be hydraulic or electrical, to disable both of those systems you have to again hit the barbette or in the case of the electrical systems, you would need to kill the main electrical systems of the Battleships. Simply hitting the turret will not disable the ability to traverse .Main Battery turrets do not have radar in them, even if the rangefinders of one turret is destroyed, you do realize that battleships have many more range finders just in case one of them gets destroyed or damaged

Repulse still had similar armor to Renown, Renown had fought Scharnhorst and Gneisenau at the same time and yet Renown was less damaged than the twins. Repulse could certainly hold her own even against Scharnhorst
