Snap is indeed "special" in that regards, Flatpak for example does not provide an auto update mechanism to any packages installed through Flatpak including browsers, to enable auto updates you need to go Gnome Software and enable it there

As far as I know, Fedora has never marketed itself as "lightweight", so I think you're looking for the wrong distro.

It's going to be a long time before that happens

You don't have to be a nerd, you just need a functioning brain and I'm fairly sure you have that, And if you're reallty struggling, there are numerous tutorials out there on how to burn an ISO file into a usb
1
Well you're in luck since Fedora already has a new installer in the works and should be in Fedora 38 or 39
1
Fedora will soon replace it's installer with a version of Calamares IIRC

It's really not that fast, Fedora releases a major version every 6 months same as Ubuntu but the only difference is that Ubuntu supports the superseded version a lot longer

Misericordia No, OpenSUSE is based on the original SUSE Linux which is independent

@hwfq34fajw9foiffawdiufhuaiwfhw Fedora occupies a large space and Ubuntu never had better repositories than Ubuntu

@foss_sound Fedora is primarly sponsored by Red Hat but is mainly community distribution (unlike RHEL), and what's wrong with DNF exactly? If you're going to complain about speeds then yes it's slower than pacman but not THE slowest among various package managers. And DNF will soon be replaced by MicroDNF which will supposedly be faster than predecessor
1
@foss_sound DNF at worst will take 2-3 minutes to refresh the repos which is slow but not that annoying, the system upgrade (like going from Fedora 35 to 36) will update the system while it's rebooting to minimize errors unlike other distros who fully upgrade the system while fully turned on (yes this does work but Fedora just makes sure that doing the upgrade won't brick your installation). Again I will once again state that Fedora is primarily sponsored by Red Hat does some direct aspects of the project but Fedora is mainly driven by it's community contributors
