I can only speak of my simulator time, but I can tell if I’m going to lose or gain a few tenths in a corner at my braking marker mostly on the cars behaviour and if I missed the marker or not. Then there’s how close to the apex you are or if you were an inch off. Miss the apex in a technical section of the track and now you’re losing more time because you can’t carry the speed or get far enough over to open the next corner up. Think that left right nightmare in the Center of Catalunya track, if you go too safe through there you’ll need to lift to make the fast sweeping right, or you can risk it and go through it in the next gear up, catch the oversteer early and the sweeping right becomes easy flat thanks to the extra airspeed meaning you won’t get overtaken mid straight.

The mguH was forced on teams by the FIA... it’s incredibly inefficient and teams have wanted it gone for years for exactly that reason

@Appletank8 yeah but say you’re making 300hp on 95octane, switch over to E85 and to make the same power you’ll be using more fuel. That means it’s got less energy in it but the energy it has is more reliable. People say the same about propane as if 100octane and methanol like cooling properties mean nothing

@cybernetix86 just wait for the ‘26 specs. I have this uncanny feeling that wings will be basically completely banned outside 60’s style winglets and a smaller version of the current rear wing with 90% of the DF made via ground effect

@F1ll1nTh3Blanks intent of the law doesn’t exactly stand up in court. it’s letter of the law

Not many know the category exists because it’s an american series with no-fun rules that prohibit real racing. Plus it likely doesn’t take you very far since those destined for F1 are probably already in f4/Indy lites

@billyashworth3944 group C was tanked by its owner to bring the teams to F1

Saw this on red bull since race 2

I feel like the scallop will create a vacuum at speed and do 2 things. 1, the vacuum will aide in airflow, literally sucking the air as hard as if not harder than the force entering. 2, there’s a chance that its pressure difference will reduce downforce creating a DRS like effect, basically pulling the car up against the suction from the floor

Also, didn’t Ferrari say something about only needing aero if you can’t build an engine?

What it proves is that recklessness is tied to success. It also tends to be the driver’s downfall. Senna Dale E McRae Etc They were all arguably the greatest, but they pushed their own limits too far.

I think this new car will benefit the off line corner entry, I can’t see there being much grip in low speed, it might even lose suction like pulling a vacuum cleaner off the carpet

I feel like this concept will be adapted to front wings to an extent.

@goatgoat9940 if that was the case why didn’t mclaren just do that then huh???

MGUH is not genius. If it was genius it would actually be efficient. The only tech it has passed on to every day people is a fire pit that barely charges your phone
1
There would need to be an endurance class of F1 car with a lower output but sure
