I've enjoyed watching Salvini getting back-stabbed, front-stabbed, and side-stabbed all at once in the course of the last day or two...And that's before the lega even has to officially state their support of Meloni as prime minister. But yes, chances are they won't be able to get too far with their program, which I being more left-leaning am grateful for. They scare the shit outta me.

  2. Although this is the first election with the small parliament. Additionally, two things this video glosses over are 1) just how far-right the FdI rhetoric is, even refusing to remove the fascist flame from their symbol, testing the waters to see if presidentialism would fly, etc. 2) the elections don't directly determine a prime minister. This was more precisely stated here than in a previous video, but ultimately the president chooses a prime minister and then if a coalition can be formed than things can proceed. That's how we ended up with Draghi, despite the major parties all having their own preferences. Given the current parliament it's extremely likely that Meloni will end up as prime minister, however if hypothetically Mattarella were to find someone different that enough members of parliament were willing to support then she might not. Unfortunately a lot of English-language news seems to be getting this wrong.
