@Korporaal1 Also to say: maybe try to spend some more time with loved ones in everyday life.

Probably because of the laws in greenland. You know, little clauses regarding not destroying the environment and stuff.

@samuelboucher1454 in what ways in particular?

Also, the whole point about the belt and road initiative seems somewhat besides the point...You have a problem with your citizens buying a ton of stuff from China, so you respond by trying to get land on which to put up military bases and forcefully control shipping? Really?

@ I mean...I don't know who used it first but considering how different neo- fascists vs nazis are from the original does it much matter in the grand scheme of things whether one associates it with fascism or nazism?

Honestly the more people freak out about crime the worse it's going to be. I think at a society level the best way to combat that is to work for a more cohesive community

Honestly after a few days when the cash runs out I'd probably just run a tally of what I owe to my grocer, and he'd do the same for his suppliers. Question is what the financial fallout would be afterwards.

@holodoctor1 I mean, I already live in a city of 200.000 more or less I believe, at the end of the day city size is irrelevant if you mostly shop in the same places every day along the same km-long stretch of road and they all know you.

@user-vr8zs3ei7n Why is that a bad thing, if the taxes are spent well? I'd happily pay a 50% or tax rate if I got housing and two hot meals a day for free. Also, is that the maximum or minimum? Most countries have a different income tax depending on how much you make.

He gave a roman salute, to resounding applause. Brace yourself for whatever comes next.

@BoredOligarch ...Yes. Some of them settled in France for a bit before invading britain (i believe it was in France they gained the name Normans). If my memory doesn't fail me they reached well into the Mediterranean for a while too, and they discovered and mapped parts of the canadian coastline a while before Columbus. Interestingly, some maps depicting such a landmass have been discovered in Genova from the era, making it not impossible that Columbus had an idea that there was something out there.

@ericdpeerik3928 Societies build systems according to their needs and external parameters, but then just as quickly dismantle them as new "more advanced" systems are deemed good enough. I used to work with a guy who lived in a fairly small town in Kenya (rural enough there were often goats bleating in the background during our calls). His power would go out quite frequently, I'd guess averaging close to once a day for anywhere from a few to several hours at a time. Our occupation? Software developers. When his power died and he needed the internet for something, he'd take a break to go run arrands.

@sheldoniusRex Why tf would I want a gun if the utilities were out?

@SusCalvin True, but Trump has never had much beef with Putin
