@doublepinger If the company's entry-level position has high requirements such as multiple years of experience, they shouldn't advertise as entry-level. People with those requirements aren't going to bother to look at a job labelled that way.

Mine was recently bought and is now just the software division if you will, but it's pretty clear we're headed that way. A particular favorite of mine among recurring themes is the lack of documentation regarding anything (including basic and common procedures) in a business context that provides devops. It's hard to configure a customer's installation if you have no f'ing clue how and the only people who do know are busy fixing the urgent issues at another customer because the higher-ups insist on biting off more than we can chew.

Agile so often means "we don't have any standard operating procedures so no one knows how to do a lot of really basic and fairly routine things, and we also don't bother to document anything"

I once had a recruiter call me up to offer me a 6-month internship during which time they would teach me how to use C# and even pay me with a third of the money I was already making as a full-stack dev in a terrible startup. I had 5 years C# experience.

@iloveblender8999 If complex math is important and you're not in a field such as cryptography or low-level high-performance libraries, chances are you're doing something the hard way. As for working with 10x devs, in my experience what makes them impressive is having been in the group longer than anyone else (even if it's only 3 or 4 years) and writing a lot of complex-looking code/closing a bunch of stories quickly. The issue is they don't tend to document much (or anything...) and their code is often hastily thrown together and really isn't that great, but since they're the expert in those topics no one else tends to notice until they leave and some poor sod has to start looking into the numerous subtle bugs in that code.
