@MadMathMike when you have discrete versioning with decently long development cycles having an unprotected master is bad enough, but when merging to master sends it straight to production it's just begging for disaster.

But if you do do anything serious, please for the love of all things dear at least consider keeping the DB out of the ecosystem you're in. Failure to do so could lead to impossibly high costs if/when you decide you'd rather like to change providers.

As a dev myself (though mostly not web), it's nice to sleep easy knowing that whatever happens to the company I work for won't really affect me, I get paid the same either way.

@armoredchimp Maybe. I've never paid for that sort of cloud hosting so I'm not really an expert, I normally stick to desktop stuff.
