  1. It does matter, because it makes it so much harder to justify the Church's influence in parliament and schools in this country. One third of all state schools are religious, collective worship is imposed by law in schools across England and Wales, parliamentary sessions begin with prayers, and 26 Church of England bishops sit in the House of Lords. And the census results just talk about Christianity in general being in the minority, but the share that's specifically Church of England is only 12% of the UK, thus making their privileged position in our parliament and state schools indefensible.
