In the comics, the superheroes who can fly or have super speed usually have other powers to help them out with that task - Superman is impervious to most physical damage, doesn't need air to breathe etc., The Flash has increased physical resilience and super healing, and the writers invented another physical force - the speed force - to account for various other things (like quick acceleration, deceleration, no air friction, etc.).
