  3.  @williamelliott  Any PD in the world would have made Terry their prime suspect at the beginning, based upon all evidence available then. Easy for others to judge them after the fact, once you already know the result. Malcolm Gladwell has written extensively about the problem of people throwing out blame in hindsight, when nothing is ever clear at the time it is happening.

  4.  @joez.2794  Had they shown up for that woman and her Marine father, what would have changed? Nothing. Firstly, the guy would have claimed mistaken identity, and the cops would have had to let him go. Secondly, how in the world would they have tied him to the Wood case with then-useless DNA? Would never have happened.
