  3. @stevebeairsto I couldn't upvote your comment because the last half-sentence is off base, but the rest is extremely accurate. Buchanan was a lousy president, but blaming him for the Civil War is absurd. Buchanan may actually be the most underrated POTUS ever, if only because he is routinely rated worst, which is way off.

And yet here you are, still banging your head against the wall, trying to convince others of what you would like to believe yourself. Stop with the nonsense. Also, read the Gettyburgh Address. You'll learn something, like why letting the South secede was not an option.

I am of the (rather unpopular) opinion that Buchanan, while hardly a great president, takes vastly too much blame for the Civil War, and absolutely should not be listed as the worst POTUS anywhere. What are your thoughts on Buchanan?

  7. Buchanan is unfairly blamed for the Civil War. Routinely labeled the worst POTUS, he is actually underrated - because he wasn't that bad. The idea that he caused the Civil War is pretty ridiculous.
