@paulholmes672 Strawman argument. No one - not Barney, not me - said that anyone should be forced to share. Avoid bizarre extremes.

That part of the video was just wrong. Teaching little children to share toys with friends is a positive message.

@sethstephens4777 I wasn't aware that Barney is part of the educational curriculum. Silly me, I thought it was a television show that parents let their children watch.

Yatch yatch yatch

@jfangm Being forced to share? Wrong. Being taught to be selfish? Also wrong. Being generous with others is hardly a bad thing. And making it seem as if there are only the two extremes presents a false choice. And most parents don't waste time getting wound up over such nonsense, thank God.

@century2298 As long as it's not encouraged or overemphasized: "Don't listen to her - if you don't want to share, then don't! Who cares!". That would be unhelpful. However, explaining that sharing is nice and wonderful and makes the world a wonderful place, but ultimately it is the child's decision? Sounds good to me.

@jfangm Don't put words in my mouth. I never said she should be forced to share. Encouraged, yes. Forced, no.

False choice. Nearly all of us work out of self interest, while nearly all of us also do good work for others with no expectation of personal gain.
