  2. I didn't look into his reasoning in this situation, but McConnell over his long career has been one of the greatest conservatives in Senate history.

  3. This is hard to imagine for the younger folks, but when CNN started, they were known as the quasi-conservative alternative to the big three networks. Unlike the big three, all based in NYC, the theory was that being based in the South, in Atlanta, kept them independent. And the guy who started it, Ted Turner, was somewhat conservative at the time. Unfortunately, he went on to marry Hanoi Jane, and that was the end of that.

  4. Vel Freedman has got to be the most likeable lawyers of all time. I just spent a couple of minutes researching him, and it turns out he is also absolutely brilliant. An Orthodox Jew and Sabbath observer, he was ordained as a Rabbi before starting law school. On his LSATs, he scored a perfect grade, one in less than 0.02% to do so. He then graduated Columbia Law with honors, and went back home to Florida to practice. Fascinating guy.
