The English are also the least liked people in practically every country in Europe. Except the Belarusians, they hate themselves the most.

The UK collapsed in 1945 along with its anti-German hatred. And that's just as well.

You mean the British Genocidal Empire?

Statistically, the British are the most aggressive people in the world. No other people have fought so many wars and occupied almost 90% of the earth's surface at some point in order to steal their land and resources from other peoples.

sdrawkcabUK As a German, I wouldn't have anything to do with it if the British left Europe too. Nobody would miss them, especially not the French.

As a German, I'm surprised at how often Germany is mentioned in the UK and seems to serve as a kind of reference nation. Because in Germany the UK has had absolutely no role since 1945, apart from Mr. Bean (the Germans see him as a kind of prototype of the English).

@lloyd9500 As a German, it's funny to me that the British media relatively often mentions Germany comparatively, because the UK, conversely, doesn't play a role in Germany. The UK has no longer been a reference nation for Germany since 1945, regardless of how high its economic output is or ever will be again. We compare ourselves to the USA and China and everything else practically doesn't exist.

@lloyd9500 I don't want to disappoint you, but nobody has been interested in the UK since 1945. Not for France and Germany either. That's why the only place to look is China and the USA. A look at German foreign trade statistics explains everything.

@lloyd9500 Ranking of Germany's most important trading partners by value of exports in 2023. 1st place: USA. After that comes absolutely nothing for a long time. The UK is somewhere in the lower midfield - one place above Switzerland and one place under Austria. So the importance of the UK is literally somewhere between Austria and Switzerland, which is not very high. You can also be sure that nearly every German knows these rankings and importance classification. The statistics are celebrated every year more than christmas. You see the problem.

@lloyd9500 In the public perception within Germany itself, the German economy is divided exclusively according to exports. That's logical, it's not necessarily beneficial to import something. The picture becomes even clearer when we talk about public perception, in which the UK plays no role in Germany. The public debate revolves around the USA and China. I don't understand what's so bad about it for you either. The Europeans' time is over through their own fault (and de facto that of Germany too). Give others a chance, now it's the Asians' turn in perspective. You will understand if, as a BA/MA in history, I leave little doubt about the correctness of my interpretation - even if there is of course no absolute right or wrong.

@lloyd9500 I have linked the question of public perception of the UK in Germany to the question of exports by country from the outset. Look at the statistics from 2023 (it's a different statistic to yours). The statistic only refers to exports (everything else is irrelevant in Germany). The UK is far, very far behind the USA there. The bar of the USA in the chart is endless.
