The site was hit, meaning the missiles got through, hence why they had to take the Patriot system offline. Russia had more trouble destroying soviet S-300 systems than they did the Patriot PAC2 and PAC 3.

  5. The Patriot system is a point defence system. You deploy it within the area you’re trying to defend. The downside is, that if it fails, then there’s effectively an ammunition storage facility within your city that will make a big BOOM if hit.

  6.  @davidkendrick6544 the S-400 hasn’t been launched once in Syria. When the US navy attacked Damascus, all tomahawk missiles were intercepted by 1960’s systems used by the Syrian armed forces. The missiles that struck their targets were French Exocet missiles, as they are far too fast for what Syria uses. Russia didn’t engage, because their base wasn’t under attack.
