  1. hugo li, professors in the west aren't fond of Chinese students because the Chinese students are really good at remembering facts but can't think for themselves. I don't blame the students for that, however. They were raised in a system that rewards thoughtless obedience rather than critical thought.

  2. If the US was threatening to nuck Cuba, we would take it as only natural Cuba would install a missile defense system and just develop a way to defeat it, Ike an honorable country. However, China has no honor demanding South Korea give up its defense because China has lost control over North Korea.

  4. Leon Zhang, good China. That's doesn't refute what I said. China steals trillions of dollars in intellectual property from the US every year, and many high end goods made by China are copies of US and Russian designs.

  5. Japan and South Korea aren't US colonies in any sense. The Philippines was a US colony but gained independence decades ago. As such the US can't just order any of them to do anything.

  6. The US has no political control over South Korea, Japan, or the Philippines. The US does have a lot of influence in those countries, but that's not the same as having power over. Also, I'm American.

No, it's more like South Korea asked their friend from a couple blocks over, the US, to set up security camera because their sibling next door, North Korea, is acting crazy, and now their neighbor across the street, China, is up set because the security camera, also, catches part of their yard.

  18. Frieda Liu, I'm not saying Chinese students do badly. I'm saying they aren't trained to think critically. They're trained to learn and regurgitate facts, which which carry you in academics. However, it doesn't make them particularly innovative.

  19. George Bush, it's a good thing you're using that name because you are a moron. China being the second or third largest creditor to the US doesn't mean nearly as much as people think. It doesn't magically give China some kind of leverage over the US, particularly because China uses the dollar as their reserve currency. China's economic growth has been greatly exaggerated. China's official growth rate was last reported at about 6%. However, even the Chinese government doesn't believe that number, and outside sources say the real growth is between 3 and 4%, which is only about 1% more than the US. Furthermore, the Chinese economy seems to still be slowing.

  21. Taskuan, China's growth has slowed down a lot, and they're facing major economic problems. China has a giant real estate bubble that's leaching into parts of the US, Canada, and Australia. They're, also, having some challenges transferring from a export manufacturing based economy to domestic service based economy. I won't lie and say the US has no economic problems. However, we have a lot fewer, and they're comparatively smaller.

  22. The US forces in South Korea are there to protect them from the North, so you're saying China would leave its allies undefended. Every country in a position of power abuses that power to some degree, but the US isn't nearly as uncaring in our use of power as China is.

  28.    Australia and New Zealand are not part of Asia, even if they are in the same region as some Asian countries. We don’t consider North Africa part of Europe even though it’s part of the Mediterranean region. It terms of land mass Russia is definitely an Asian country, but in terms of culture and where it looks too, Russia is European.
