The Sherman was the best tank of WW2. Everyone gets tripped up in the Sherman vs German heavy tanks. Heavy tanks were specifically designed to defeat all other tanks, and they only made up 5% of the enemies the Sherman would fight.

I mean, We can compare miles driven without needing repairs, time until first shot if fire after stopping, or a bunch of other important statistics, so what ones are you talking about? The Sherman catching fire more than other tanks is a myth, and late war Sherman’s were below average on catching fire.

@trianglemountainmotors1210 Shermans definitely caught fire. They didn’t catch fire more than other tanks. The Chieftain has actually looked up the numbers in the archives. The claim they caught fire at a ridiculous rate comes from the memoir of a mechanic doing tank recovery. There are obvious reasons why his views are a bit biased. I think the Sherman was the best tank over all with some tanks being better in some areas.
