  9. The US has been moving to making more light industry domestically or relocating to places like Vietnam and Mexico. Also, it’s very easy to transport goods around the US. We have more navigable rives than the rest of the world combined. We also have the largest freight rail network in the world. Even with the recent spike in prices, the US has lower fuel costs than Europe or China

Moving containers on a river might not be as efficient as moving it by see, but it’s a lot more efficient than by truck. Also, most imports heading for the eastern half of the country are shipped to a port on the east and gulf coast.

  11.  @AA-Crow  an underutilized advantage is an advantage. Also, you’re completely ignoring bulk good, which are the most important to ship cost effectively. As a rule it costs less to move goods by water than land, so if it’s cheaper to ships goods by land in the US than by sea, it means the US has a highly developed and efficient transport system. Transport costs are highly dependent on the local conditions.

  16.  @garrettp1  actually, children’s graveyards where very common until about 70 years ago. The Childhood mortality rate was 20% pre-antibiotics. Through most of history it was closer to 40%, and in prehistory it was nearly 60%.

Also, Turkey doesn’t have the vast sparsely inhabited area to defend. The huge area of Russia spreads their limited forces very thin.

As rule by force became politically disfavored by all, nations within empires gained independence. While the US has distinct regions, most of see ourselves as Americans.
