People really need to get this into their hands: the state of Texas is larger than France. Also, the largest ethnic group in the US is German, and we still have a German streak in our culture.

If you’re parents are American and you’re born outside of the US you have until you’re 18 to claim your citizenship.

If you think Americans are abrupt with our farewells on the phone, Russians just hangup on you.

We use pencils all the way into college, particularly for math, because it’s easier to fix mistakes, and scantron tests require using #2 pencils.

The Amish and Meningitis are insular religious sects who just wanted to be left alone. However, they weren’t the majority of the PD. They’re just the last groups to speak PD

A minor correction, Germanic refers to Germanic tribes, the languages they spoke, the culture they practiced, and all the people languages, and cultures that descend from them. While what’s now Germany (and parts of Scandinavia) is the ancient home land of the tribes, the English, Dutch, Scandinavians are all Germanic.

@koschmx the only thing that more French in it than Germanic is English vocabulary, but even then the grammar and most of the basic vocabulary are Germanic. As for genetics, the English are very much a mix of people from northern Germany, the Netherlands, and Denmark. Moreover, the Normans were the descendants of the the Norse who settled in France, and Northern France was settled by the Franks, a Germanic tribe and who the country is named after.

@koschmx I get it, you don’t understand what ancestry is.
1
@koschmx culture, language, and genetics are all part ancestry, and I’ve been talking about ancestry the entire time. Also, I just explained to you the French are Germanic. However, you seem to be confusing Germanic and Deutsch.
1
@koschmx Und? Sprechen Englisch und du wärst auch kein Engländer. However, all of that is besides the point. The English are Germanic by every measure of ancestry

@UCt_TcnJ1PhbkfBJ90g5PM9A I’m American and English is my native language. If I moved to the UK, I would always be though of as an American. Considering how my maternal grandfather and mother were both mistaken for Germans in Germany when they were stationed (separately and decades apart) there. The drunks were pretty insistent that my grandfather was their long lost brother from what I’ve heard. Germans aren’t Aryans. Aryan is an Indo-Iranian word, and the word Iran is actually derived from it. So the real aryans are from Iran. However, I’ve been talking about groups and their relationship with each other, and speaking of which, one unnamed study contradicting very well established history is just bs. Now, if that’s a study of the British nobility, that would makes sense because of the the Norm conquest.

@koschmx yes, you will never be German. German is an ethnicity, not a nationality. The nation is built around the ethnicity. Yes, the English are liberal, but that doesn’t mean you can just join the English ethnicity by becoming a citizen. Furthermore, the English are part of a group ethnicities related by language, culture, and blood and that group is called Germanic.

@koschmx yes, a child can be inculcated with English culture (language, manners, values, etc.) to make them English. Those are things that have to be inculcated from, if from birth, at a very young age. England is ruled by common law, not Roman style Civil law. Moreover, there’s no continuity between the English tradition and the Roman one.
1
@koschmx yes, we use the symbols of Rome. That doesn’t mean are tradion of law and governance come from Rome.
