  2. Truly reusable rockets are massive improvement over expendable rockets. The closest we’ve had to reusable rockets, was the shuttle, but the engines had to be rebuilt after every flight, heat tiles had to replaced, etc. Tesla are making EVs not just practical but desirable.

  17.  @bo840  a full flow staged combustion engine means the engine passes the fuel and oxidizer through pre-burners that power the turbo pumps before they’re burnt in the main combustion chamber. That cycle is a lot more efficient but complex than open cycle engines, which burn some of the fuel and oxidizer then dump the exhaust out the side, and the down right simplistic pressure feed engines, which use a pressurized gas, usually helium, to backfill the tanks.   A rocket doing anything the Starship prototypes have done is remarkable, let alone all of them. Moreover, do you understand the concept of prototyping and testing? The giga-factories are name after the fact they’re supposed to produce gigawatts of batteries. The giga-castings are probably named after the fact they’re made in the giga-factories. Although, the alternative explanation is that it’s using the Ancient Greek meaning of giant.

However, you seem to be confusing quick visits with permanent colonies. Those are vastly different things with orders of magnitude difference in difficulty. Antarctica is undeveloped because of treaties, not because of a lack of people willing to live and work there or economically viable industries.

There’s no book explaining how to build the first full flow rocket engine because no has built one before. No one even thought of the bellyflop maneuver used by starship before SpaceX.

  30. So much wrong that it hurts. NASA has spent over a decade developing the SLS, and it bas cost billions. SpaceX have spent less than 50 million on the starship prototypes so far. Also, NASA is moving slow because they’re terrified of even the smallest risk and their contractors have found they make more dragging their feet.

However, because you’re also spreading lies, I’m going to correct those. Even just a cursory look at the launch costs of SpaceX and other companies proves you wrong. A Falcon Heavy costs $90 million for a payload of 63 tons to LEO. The next heaviest rocket the US has is the Delta 4 heavy, which costs $350 million, has a payload of 28 people ons to LEO. When SLS and Starship are operational, the difference is going to be truly staggering. Trains are great, but they’re not going to replace all cars. The no so secret “Secret Tesla Motor Master Plan” clearly lays out the grand strategy of Tesla: start high and work down to less profitable (per unit) segments, and they’re well under way. Moreover, Tesla’s are cheaper than cars with equivalent performance and features, and they completely blow other electric cars out of the water. Chevy to recall their Bolt because of their problem with catching fire. If that’s not a metaphor for legacy car makers, I don’t know what is.

It’s obviously lower than their competitors like Boeing and ULA. SpaceX are reusing their boosters so much that it’s notable when a booster hasn’t been used before, and most of their boosters have already done several launches. Yeah you are changing the goalposts. You started of claiming Elon has basically done nothing, which is clearly wrong, and now you’re claiming reusable rockets aren’t impressive enough for you. SpaceX has already made 5 launches with people on them. I’ve watched three of them in person. As for Starship, it progressing at record pace for a rocket. SLS has been in development in some form for decades. You clearly don’t know anything about rockets or how long it takes to develop them.

Tesla’s California factory had exactly the same infection rate as the rest of the county, which was lower than the sate average, and there’s zero evidence that the virus was spread at the factory, which shouldn’t be surprising since they rigorously fallowed the safety guidelines. Also, Musks constantly state motives for what he’s doing are to help people. He’s constantly telling people why he does things. Moreover, he seems indifferent to wealth beyond its functional value.

Also, the claim Tesla sells fewer cars than any other car company is just laughably wrong. Tesla sold a little under twice as many cars as Volvo last year, and Tesla are selling more than 20 times as many cars as Ferrari. Moreover, Tesla are expanding.
