You’re right that there needs to only be one monetary policy, but with ecomoies as divergent as Greece and Germany, one monetary policy is going to work.
Now, saying the EU has the best human rights is just laughable. The EU doesn’t even ensure basic freedoms like free speech. The US, Canada, Japan, and South Korea all have higher standards of living than countries like Romania and arguably France.
What a classic tactic, just lable people with opposing views as far right. Being angry about people coming into your country and committing crimes ranging from petty theft to murder, is understandable. Also, wanting to be in control of your own country is understandable.
The UK isn’t having problems anything like you’re talking about. In fact, there are some good signs of growth.

You're right mines aren't afraid of thorium. What mines are afraid of is the federal government and its overly strict regulation of thorium. You're right thorium can be found is small amounts in almost every rock, but thorium is found in high concentrations in minerals that are already being mined for other metals. The best example is the actinides that are mined for rare earth element, which contain something like 12% thorium, much higher than many ores, like iron and copper, being mined.
As for burning waste from light water reactors, molten salt reactors require something like high level nuclear waste to start them, and there are a few designs that were specifically designed to burn high level nuclear waste.
When it come to economics, go look up a video called Thorium Energy Cheaper than coal.
Again, I'll say it: you need to do more research.

Biofuels are a net energy loss; unless you’re talking about burning wood pellets, which is obviously terrible and a stupid idea for a country that’s mostly desert. Most hydrogen is made from natural gas, and what isn’t is a net energy loss like biofuels.
Wind has the same problem as solar: inconsistency, and no, batteries aren’t good enough. Currently Australia has one of the largest battery packs in the world, and it’s only good a for smoothing out the demand curve in a lightly populated area. Then there’s the cost of batteries.
Most people in Oz live in cities in the habitable costs, so even though the cities have a lot of suburban area, the the city centers are going to need more than solar panels on the roof.
Steel mills and the like run best when running 24/, and just on mill/factory can use as much electricity asa small city and need the lowest costs the can get, which is anything but unreliables and batteries. Nuclear on the other hand is consistent, and molten salt reactors, in particular, are the perfect source for industrial heat. Even the current reactors naturally desalinate water, which would be really useful for Oz.
Australia is the second largest producer of uranium, so nuclear would actually improve Australia’s geopolitical position by making it energy independent. Moreover, most solar panels are produced in China, solar makes you dependent on China, which is just a stupid geopolitical move.

This is better than most analyses, but there ar major problems.
Wind and solar are far more expensive in practice. Germany and California have both seen massive increases in electricity prices. There are several things the levelized life time cost doesn’t account for. It doesn’t factor in a the cost of batteries and/or natural gas backup. Also, wind and solar last 1/3, at best, the time as a reactor before needing replaced, so if they cost 1/3 as much over their life time but need replaced 3 times as often, you don’t really save any money.
The we’re running out of uranium argument always ignores any form of adaptation to the fuel cycle. They never consider that the current reactors only have a 5% burn rate. That leaves a lot of un used fuel that can be reprocessed and used again, and then fast reactors can burn the spent fuel straight from PWRs. There are also reactors that can use upwards of 90% of the fuel to begin with. Then there’s seawater extraction rather. The oceans hold more uranium than has ever been mined. Finally, we have alternative fuels to uranium. While the benefits of thorium have been exaggerated, it’s widely available and several times more common than all isotopes of uranium.
As for construction costs, you’re not wrong, but you make extreme outliers seem like they’re normal.

Got a super cheap and efficient battery, great, but to make them at a scale we need it would take more than the whole planet's supply of an element; that won't work. Got a cheap and scalable form of storage, great, but it's only 1% efficient meaning we have to produce 100 times power than we needed; well, that's not going to work either. Got a scalable efficient form of energy storage, great, but it costs a lot of money to operate; people aren't going to be using something they can't even afford to buy. At this time, the kind of energy storage needed to make renewables remotely viable is just a pipe dream.

I have been talking about the total cost the whole time. When we take everything into account, nuclear costs about the same amount as coal. Yes, nuclear, with some augmentation from renewables, is the solution to our energy needs. If we use the same standards, nuclear is as clean as, if not cleaner than, any renewable. Excluding fusion, advanced nuclear is barely getting any money. If I remember right, in 2006 Al Gore pushed a bill limiting the funding to research into advanced nuclear in the US, and regulatory agencies make it hard to research advanced nuclear.

andygasson I see no problem with asking the people who returned to their homes in the Chernobyl exclution zone after the meltdown, and are living longer healthier lives than those left, or the people who worked in the Chernobyl power plant decades after the meltdown about what happened and just how uninhabitable it is. Don't get me wrong there are some serious problems in the exclution zones, but calling them uninhabitable is simply not true. Furthermore, if you actually look at the numbers, instead of using emotional arguments, you would see that nuclear has the lowest deaths per kilowatt hour. Another point I want to bring up, you seem to think solar and wind are some how magically unable to have accidents that kill people, which is, again, simply not true. Most solar panels are mounted on rooftops, and climbing on rooftops is dangerous work. Wind has a similar problem, with lifting very large objects high into the air and just working high in the air.

LuKiSCraft No, fusion can't solve all our energy needs. Right now the largest cost of light water reactors is the labor because of how complex they are. We both agree that fusion is going to be more complex than light water reactors, so they will be even more expensive, which means people will turn to less exspencive alternatives. Another thing, that complexity in going to make them very slow to build, which with cost is going to greatly limit the scalability of fusion. Even if we solved all those problems and made everything electric which can be, we would still need liquid fuel for things like cargo ships and airplanes.
MSRs are not an improved version of the light water reactors we're using now but a complete reworking of how reactors work. MSRs use liquid fuel and a salt coolant, which completely changes how the reactors work. What you're saying is like saying a jet engine is just an improved internal combustion engine. Also, the different way MSRs work means they are much simpler to build, and puts they at about the same level of difficulty to build comparable to wide body airplanes. So scaling isn't going to be problem. Furthermore, the rewriting of how the reactors work means MSRs are an excellent source of industry heat, which could be used to creat cleaner, more power synthetic hydrocarbon fuels. MSRs are everything fusion promises to be and more all while being closer to hand.
He3 isn't abundant on the moon just less rare than on the Earth. I remember about a decade ago when mining the moon for He3 was all the rage in the space community. I don't doubt we could mine the moon, but you don't have much of an economic case cheaper alternatives.
I know fusion is a more energetic reaction than fission, but not a hundred times, so you're going to have to clarify what you mean.

LuKiSCraft If we use thorium breeder versions of MSRs, known as LFTRs (liquid fluoride thorium reactors), we have hundreds of thousands of years worth of fuel. That's not the billions of years worth of fuel fusion, but we'll have moved on to something like a Dyson sphere by then. Also, MSRs are produce a fraction of the waste of light water reactors much of which has other uses, like in RTGs and medical isotopes, so fusion is only marginally cleaner.
There are a lot of interesting developments happening in battery tech today. However, you can't run a jet engine on battery power, and prop planes, like all planes, have to worry about weight. Also, ships while not nearly weight constrained as air planes still don't need huge amounts of unnecessary weight. Another thing, where are ships going to recharge in the middle of the ocean? The Pacific Ocean covers about third of the Earth's surface with many of the busiest sea lanes in the world, and does have any recharging stations for ships.

I know making fun of stupid people isn't well looked at, but when people like you say such blatantly stupid things. Wind turbines and solar panels don't just magically appear. As such they require manufacturing, shipping, extraction of resources, etc. Those things produce waste, and solar in particular produces lot of very toxic waste. In fact, one twin in China had riots because of the toxic waste coming from the plant making solar panels. Furthermore, when people talk about nuclear waste they're talking about an amount that can fit into a football field. Compared to vast amounts of waste produced by other forms of power, nuclear waste is a small inconvenience.
Nuclear plants do have a large up front cost. However, when you average that cost out by the life of the plant and how much energy it produces every year, nuclear is less expensive than wind or solar.

Taxtro Stiffness, like hardness, is good up to a point. If a katana gets bent more than a few degrees, it's ruined. If a longsword gets bent almost into a 90 degree angle, it goes back to shape. The stiffness of the katana makes it a little fragile. As for the length, being short doesn't really make anything easier to use, unless you're in a confined space, like ship or building. Balance and weight are far more important. I have this practice ax that's about 1 and a half feet long, and a lot of the time I end up using both hand on the ax. I, also, have a practice sword that's 4 feet long, and I can use it with one hand.

When SLS and Starship are operational, the difference is going to be truly staggering.

Reactors DO NOT explode! They also don’t leave areas uninhabitable if they fail. Fukushima was needlessly evacuated, which killed 1,600 people. Chernobyl is worse, but there are people who have lived is parts of the exclusion zone since immediate after the accident.

Lucid has delivered ~300 cars. Kia has delivered ~20,000. Ford has delivered ~27,000 mach-e. Polestar has delivered ~40,000. BMW between all of its makes and models has delivered ~103,000. Tesla delivered ~960,000 cars last year, and are on track to deliver more than 1 million this year. When the competition is between 1/10 and 1/3000 the size, it’s not competition in any meaningful way.
Moreover, most of those competitors have substandard engineering.

Neither energy nor throughput is an innate problem. The problem is how we get them, and as I said, degrowth requires we go back to more damaging methods. Degrowth would have us go back to slash and burn farming, which is far worse for the environment than our best methods, let alone something like aeroponics. Degrowth means going back to burning wood, and that would mean cutting down every tree to try to fulfill our needs. Growth means deploying nuclear power, which has the smallest environmental impact of all energy sources. You know what we can do with that energy? Tap into new, underutilized resources, like our waste. Water reclamation takes a lot of energy, but when we have low impact energy sources, it more than worth it so we can reuse the same water over and over again.

2) A. solar panels are rarely recycled because of the cost, so most are just dumped at a land fill where they leach out toxic metal. I can only imagine the remediation costs of that. Wind turbines are even worse because none of the blades are recycled. B. You’re really under selling the damage done by coal and other fossil fuels. Just the difference in scale dwarfs anything nuclear can do, but remediation isn’t nearly are complete as you make it sound. Planting some grass doesn’t restore anything when you’ve blasted the top of a mountain off. C. Nuclear is often built on old industrial sites, so restoring the land would mean turning it back into a coal plant, tannery or the like.
3) the individual sites may use 25% more concrete than a coal plant, but because we need far fewer of them the total material cost is a lot lower. The same goes for wind and solar. And with generation 4 reactors, the math will be even more on the side of nuclear because those reactors don’t need the heavy containment buildings or nearly as much steel.
4) I know the British have 1,000 year rivalry with France, but y’all should really look into how they built their nuclear plants. The way y’all are doing things seems designed to inflate costs. Here in the US we’re not any better, but South Korea is building them much cheaper. Moreover, mass produced SMRs should be able to offer lower prices than any other source, outside of natural gas in the US.
6) spent fuel is to valuable to leave rotting in a hole. It will be much more useful as fuel in gen. 4 reactors, and their waste, which is much more completely burnt, will only last 150 years in any meaningful way. However that too will have a lot of useful isotopes.
You’re entire safety argument is mute to generation 4 reactors. They’re passively safe, and just can’t have those kinds of failures.

I’ve never haerd Dr. Peterson say anything against people negotiating for better pay and the like. In fact, I’ve heard him talk about how he’s helped people learn to stand up for themselves and negotiate for better pay and what not.
There are problems in the West but overall we’re doing a damn fine jog compared to the rest of the planet and history, so I don’t see what the problem is in defending the status quo at large. I mean the US healthcare system needs reworked, but that one part isn’t enough to justify reworking how everything in the US works.
As an atheist myself, I disagree Dr. Peterson on religion, too. However, he treats religion as an intellectual matter, rather than a dogmatic one.

Big events are relatively easy to predict when you understand the fundamental patterns. In WW2 the Pacific War was easy to guess. Japan and the US were the two powers in the Pacific. Japan being resource poor was already trying to conquer territory for resources. Eventually that was going to lead to conflict with the US. The US being a resource rich and the industrial power at the time was just going to build an endless number of ships and overwhelm the Japanese.
If we long at those patterns at how China and the US are going to fair in the future, it doesn’t look good for China and the US is going to be fine. As my previous comments explained China’s population is going to, in not already is shrinking. By the middle of the century they’re only going to number half of what they do now. That’s going to cripple China without enough young people to support the elderly. Most of China is terrible for growing food, too cold, too wet, too dry, too hilly, etc.. China is resource poor. The US is resource rich. The Great Plains are a huge mass of great agricultural land, so the US grows more food than we can eat, which is something given our roundness. Our population is stable, and with a immigration is slightly growing. Policy can’t change those things.
