Your hero is a moron who left a trail of evidence which is so irrefutable that he's going to be convicted and spend a lot of time in jail. The fact that he has (again, incredibly stupidly) insulted Romanian national pride by openly declaring that it is good policy to move to a country with lax criminal law and to keep a spare passport ready to flee (hence the extended detention) is not going to reduce his sentence. Furthermore, because that country has very powerful laws regarding the confiscation of the proceeds of crime, he is going to (eventually) emerge from prison a poor man - though just as stupid, I expect.
