I agree that it was an evil move but it was hardly a departure. I'm 68 and I have seen such things happen throughout my life. Have you not read Spycatcher? Were you not around during the miners' strike? Do you not recall the "suicide" of Willie McCrae? David Kelly? There've been plenty of dirty government dealings that I can remember.
