You're being too fair to Blair. He didn't purge the left because he couldn't. There were too many of them and they were too popular. What he and Brown did do was set up the party machinery so that right wing stooges were in positions of power. This meant that they were ready to exploit the antisemitism scam and start removing anyone who would resist them. Starmer is simply continuing the process that Blair started. He has shown here that the plan is to remove them completely. Hopefully, those "disciplined" here will have the courage not to accept the whip when it is given back to them and join the other independents as a bloc. The recent election shows that the electorate will support Labour MPs who stand up for Labour principles.
