I'm in Scotland so perhaps I get a false picture but I don't see any reflection of the supposed unstoppable poll lead that Starmer is supposed to have. Everyone I speak to considers him to be little better than a Tory. I can't help being reminded of 1992 when the Major government was considered to be so hopeless that a Labour victory was inevitable. The key similarity is that Labour made massive gains in the previous council elections but without actually increasing its vote. You have to remember that Tory voters are notorious for hanging back in council elections and by elections then turning out in force on the big day. On the other hand, Labour voters tend to need to have something to vote for. That's what did for Kinnock. His whole campaign was about not spooking the horses and re-assuring the City that they'd have nothing to worry about. It turns out they didn't.

@beachcomber1able Yeah. That's the most likely. They're still a bit neoliberal but not as bad as the rest. Greens are better but only in council elections which have STV and as second vote at Holyrood which is D'hondt. You need a slide rule to work out how to vote here!
