  1. A refreshing change from mainstream economists. Someone who actually recognises that excessive inequality is not only morally indefensible but also causes economic dysfunction. Decreasing inequality will indeed improve overall living standards. It's not rocket science: You put money in the hands of the less well off and it gets spent straight back into the economy, creating jobs and generating more wealth. Put it into the hands of the rich and it's "invested" (in other words, rented out) and actually removed from the productive economy.
