I think he's neither bad nor mad. He is just morally vacuous and stupid. He has no emotional intelligence and simply doesn't comprehend the difference between right and wrong. In his consciousness, there is "that which benefits me and that which doesn't". Combined with a total lack of intellectual curiosity, emotional insecurity and inability to empathise, it makes him extremely dangerous.

@MrSummerblade . Possibly, according to Hannanh Arrendt amorality is the true evil. Whichever way you look at it, it's certainly bad for the rest of us.

@ankhpom9296 Possibily. I'd agree that some of them are extremely stupid.

@physiocrat7143 Thou shalt kill is about people, not foetuses. Killing people doesn't bother the Christian Right one tiny bit - especially if the victim is not white and fine if they are thousands of miles away. By the way, most churches in the US only took up the cudgels against abortion relatively recently. In 1968, a conference of all the major protestant churches made a statement: “Whether the performance of an induced abortion is sinful we are not agreed but about the necessity of it and permissibility for it under certain circumstances we are in accord.” The Southern Baptists, one of the biggest Chistian organisations in the US actually came out in favour of full legalisation of it in 1974. So your claim that Bishop Budde is opposed to some long-standing Christian tradition is simply untrue. An interesting aside is that the first abortion laws in the US were enacted in slave states to protect "property" from being damaged by mothers unwilling to bring a child into the world to become a slave.

Exactly what did Bishop Budde say which was "against Christian teaching"? Her sermon sounded pretty much in line with the Sermon On The Mount to me. There is no "DEI" in the UK. There is certainly a problem with our education system, which has been progressively degenerating since Thatcher.

@physiocrat7143 I don't recall Jesus saying anything about abortion rights. But then, he would certainly have been rejected as "woke" by the extreme right. Nope. Westminster council made an announcement about partners' compliance with certain conditions around equality diversity and inclusion. It is not the same thing at all as US positive discrimination policies.

@physiocrat7143 Fringe heretical groups? The Southern Baptist Convention has over 12 million members! And Christianity Today is the flagship magazine of US Evangelicals, founded by Billy Graham in 1956. He was also against abortion bans. Was he a fringe heretical? US presidential candidates who grovelled before him to get endorsements certainly didn't think so. There is no reason on Earth by women can't be priests. Certainly, nothing that Christ said.
