  1. "When interest rates are on the floor there is no encouragement to save " Indeed. That is the point. If interest is low, it encourages people to invest in profitable and useful business or spend it into the economy rather than just putting it in the bank.

  3.  @Vroomfondle1066  He's absolutely right. But I'm talking about the principle that you keep a level of inflation which encourages people to use money to invest profitably or spend it rather than simply rent it out - which is what investing for interest amounts to.
