  1. Well said. Universities not only contribute to local economies but also local social and political life. If you are lucky enough to live close to one you will have access to the best bands, orchestras, plays etc. And discipline and organisation are important but so is subversion. Universities should be places where EVERYTHING is questioned and challenged. Universities are incredibly valuable and they should not be subject to the marketplace.
