  1. Why is Reeves doing this? It's not a mystery, Richard. It's so that in 5 years time when she is again courting middle-class votes, she can say that she's made the country richer, even though her policies will have done nothing to lift people out of poverty. In fact, as she appears to be following a full neoliberal (Thatcherite) course, she is likely to have made many people even poorer. But they won't matter because they were unlikely to vote in the first place.
