  1. My God! What utter bollocks! The Russians didn't "love" Communism. The Bolsheviks just simply took over in the chaos of the collapsing monarchy and the absence of anyone else who could do so. And it wasn't a complete disaster. They did some dreadful things and some good things. For example, they used the famine following the Civil War in ways which can't be justified by anyone. But then, the British did the same in India - and just as deliberately. Personally, I'd argue that Stalin was as evil as Hitler but then, Churchill was no angel either. On the other hand, in winning the Civil War, they held power back from genocidal Antisemites who had every intention of murdering every Jew in the empire - and there wouldn't have been any war to bring it to a halt. More importantly, it was principally the Reds who beat Hitler. Had the proto-Fascist "Whites" been in power, they would have been his allies and the West would have got the full might of German warpower ranged against it. The problem with history is that it is not a story of good guys and bad guys.
