  1. The propping up of the Jordanian and Egyptian dictatorships by the US is, of course, part of the US's subsidy to Israel. Jordan in particular is very vulnerable. It's almost as diverse as Syria with correspondingly varied loyalties towards its Hashemite monarchy. About half the population is either Palestinian or of Palestinian descent and there are also Kurds, Turks, Circcasions and refugees from both Syria and Iraq with little reason to stick their necks out for Abdullah. If he were to fall, Israel could well find itself with a 5th front for an army which is increasingly spread thinly and which is getting less and less reliable.
