As a result, organs can fetch very high prices indeed. You may recall similar accusations made in Haiti following the earthquake relief efforts. Netanyahu managed to talk down an investigation at the time by invoking the "the blood libel" trope. They shouldn't be allowed to get away with that again.

"Hubris" is the right word, Kyle. The myth of the "right to exist" is what drives this whole disaster. No state exists by right. A state comes into being and endures by the consent of its population (all of it), within borders agreed with its neighbours (all of them) but it can survive for a long time without these two conditions provided it is economically viable - as was proven by Israel's erstwhile ally, Apartheid South Africa. That stumbled on for years as a despised pariah amongst African nations but also fell when the economics no longer added up. The writing is on the wall for Israel now. If the US is truly concerned about the fate of the Israeli colonists, it needs to start thinking about dismantling this failed racist and inherently genocidal entity and replacing it with a functioning democracy where the rights of all are respected and guaranteed. It needs to do that now. As events spiral out of control, that may not be a possibility for much longer.

Totally agree with Kyle about the morality of the atomic bomb. And indeed, the firebombing of Dresden and Tokyo was equally indefensible. But beyond that, making the comparison between the Palestinians and two powers which literally wanted to conquer and enslave the World is utterly sick. It just doesn't run.

I can't help noticing that the three cartoon villain figures depicted in the backdrop have facial features which almost but not quite suggest a certain ethnic/confessional group. How to say it without saying it? Eh? The man is a complete imbecile. At one time, I would not have taken him in the least bit seriously. But that's what I once thought about Trump.....

The way polls work is an iterative process of adjustments to correct the things they got wrong last time - with little attention given to WHY they got it wrong. So underlying changes (like the Dobbs case, Trump's indictments and convictions, revelations about the diaper etc) don't get factored in at all. Let's face it. They're always going to be wrong.

My favourite is the association of Marxism, an ideology which could quite fairly be criticised for overdoing rationality, with the occult. Is this clown not aware that the Holocaust was perpetrated by people who claimed to be protecting Western Values? The Inquisition was based on Western values, as was the chattel slavery which tore millions of people from Africa and literally worked them to death, as was King Leopold's horrendous slave kingdom in the Belgian Congo, as was the genocide of Native Americans and others. World Wars 1 and 2 were fought by people with Western values. Not only a disgusting person but also a stupid and incredibly ignorant one.

Trump is NOT a conservative of any kind. He is a reactionary. A conservative is someone who wants to slow down progress. Reactionaries want to reverse it. Each successive generation of conservatives is ready to die in a ditch to protect the freedoms the previous generation of conservatives was ready to die in a ditch to prevent. They want to slow down the future. Reactionaries want to return to the past.

You've hit the bullseye on his intentions. However, this is not the 1890s when the US was the NEW kid on the block, ready to muscle in on and swamp the markets of the old regimes who were about to reach the apex of their development. The soaring newcomer now is China, backed up by its BRICS allies and partners. They'll be rubbing their hands with glee as Trump makes the US economically uncompetitive and militarily weak. He may even find some states demanding to secede - and they'll be the richest ones.

If you Google "Argentina's economy", you get countless accounts of how it has been hard but it has now turned the corner. We live in a world where most of the economics "journalists", themselves having taken courses in alleged economics run by neoliberals, have NO idea what economics actually is. The fact that Milei has impoverished millions is not a relevant metric for them. He has created a fiscal surplus and curbed inflation so he has succeeded! And now this incredible crypto scam. The man has shown himself to be a heartless conman, quite happy to cheat people out of their lifesaving to make a few of the well connected and already rich even richer. The reaction of the economics journalists? They just shrug their shoulders: It's not a good look but hey, it's just business. Capitalism works best when everyone looks after their own self-interest so we should all get over it. These people are utter clowns.
