  1. "Hubris" is the right word, Kyle. The myth of the "right to exist" is what drives this whole disaster. No state exists by right. A state comes into being and endures by the consent of its population (all of it), within borders agreed with its neighbours (all of them) but it can survive for a long time without these two conditions provided it is economically viable - as was proven by Israel's erstwhile ally, Apartheid South Africa. That stumbled on for years as a despised pariah amongst African nations but also fell when the economics no longer added up. The writing is on the wall for Israel now. If the US is truly concerned about the fate of the Israeli colonists, it needs to start thinking about dismantling this failed racist and inherently genocidal entity and replacing it with a functioning democracy where the rights of all are respected and guaranteed. It needs to do that now. As events spiral out of control, that may not be a possibility for much longer.
